WHO WE ARE
The Staples Bag is a social enterprise established by Settlement Services International (SSI).
We are a small team committed to empowering our community’s low income earners by providing easy access to low cost and high quality nutritious food staples.
Everyone should be able to afford basic food staples. However this is not easy for many in our community who are struggling with rising costs of living and on low incomes. That is why we are committed to supplying food staples at very low cost to lessen the financial burden of those in Sydney who need it most.
The Staples Bag initiative also provides unemployed people with hands-on work experience as well as the broader life skills that help job seekers to find and keep a job.

Can feed 1-2 people for up to a week
Family Bag – $30
Can feed 3-4 people for up to a week
Vegetarian Bag – $15
Can feed 1-2 people for up to a week (Contains no meat)

Why are the groceries so cheap?
We’ve established relationships with local and national grocers and food vendors throughout Sydney to obtain food staples at minimum cost. The majority of the groceries obtained are of supermarket quality, but we also provide goods that have been discontinued in supermarket lines, have incorrect labeling or damaged packaging.
Most of our groceries are purchased in bulk. This ensures that you will only ever pay a fraction of supermarket prices for your necessary groceries.
Is there eligibility criteria?
We do not have any strict eligibility criteria. Anyone who feels that they are struggling to put food on the table are welcome to shop at The Staples Bag. We allow our customers to remain anonymous as we understand how important it is to enable our customers to retain their dignity in difficult times.
What payment types do you accept?
We will accept cash, debit or credit. We also accept Centrepay payments. If you are a recipient of Centrelink payments and are interested in having your Staples Bag automatically deducted from your payments, please call us on 9787 6832 to arrange with friendly staff member.
